Aasam Meghalaya

Assam- Meghalaya are the two states amongst Assam, along with Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland,Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sikkim and Meghalaya which are known as the ‘seven sister states’. Assam is known for Assam tea and Assam silk. The first oil well in Asia was drilled here. The state has conserved the one-horned Indian rhinoceros from near extinction, along with the wild water buffalo, pygmy hog, tiger, and various species of Asiatic birds. It provides one of the last wild habitats for the Asian elephant.

Meghalaya which literally means ‘Abode of clouds’ has been of archeological interest, because people are living there since Neolithic era. The state is the wettest region of India, recording an average of 12,000 mm (470 in) of rains a year. About 70% of the state is forested. The state of Meghalaya is mountainous, with stretches of valley and highland plateaus, and it is geologically rich. It consists mainly of Archean rock formations. These rock formations contain rich deposits of valuable minerals like coal, limestone, uranium, and sillimanite.

Tour Details:

Day 1: Hometown – Guwahati

  • Arrive at Guwahati airport you will be received and transferred to hotel.
  • Overnight at Guwahati.(D)

Day 2: Guwahati – Shillong

  • After breakfast visit Kamakhya Temple is dedicated to the mother goddess Kamakhya, one of the oldest of the 51 Shakti Pithas&Umananda temple in Brahmputra River.
  • After Lunch drive to ShillongEnroute visits the largest manmade lake of Northeast India – Umiam Lake.
  • Evening is free for leisure. Overnight at Shillong (B, L, D)

Day 3: Shillong – Cherrapunjee – Shillong

  • After breakfast proceed for full day excursion to Cherrapunjee – known as the wettest place on the earth. En route visit the Shillong Peak, is the highest point in state of Meghalaya. Shillong Peak is a view-point where you can get breathtaking view of Shillong city, visit Famous Elephant Falls – it is a two-tier waterfall set in the dingles of the rocks.
  • On arrival at Cherrapunjee visit Nohkalikai Falls is the tallest (fourth highest in World) plunge waterfall in India. Have a packed lunch. After lunch enjoys the thrilling experience of Mawsmai Cave, the caves are made of limestone. After sightseeing drive back to Shillong. Evening is free for shopping.
  • Overnight at Shillong (B, L, D)

Day 4: Shillong – Kaziranga

  • After Breakfast proceed to Kaziranga, Kaziranga National Park – is inhabited by the world’s largest population of one – horned rhinoceroses, in 1985, it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for its unique natural environment.
  • On the way visit Don Bosco Museum. The museum exhibits a wide collection of regional artwork, attires, accoutrements, handicrafts, ornamentation, photographs and weapons.
  • Overnight at Kaziranga. (B, L, D)

Day 5: Kaziranga

  • Early morning enjoy Elephant Ride in Western Zone of the national park for wildlife viewing. After Lunch proceed for Jeep Safari in central Zone of the National Park to view the wild life &Kaziranga Forest.
  • Evening Enjoy Famous Traditional Assamese Folk Dance BIHU, Specially arrange for our Group
  • Overnight stay at Kaziranga. (B, L, D)

Day 6: Kaziranga – Tezpur – Guwahati

  • After Breakfast drive to Tezpur, At Tezpur visit – Agnigarh&ChitralekhaUddyan, After that proceed to Guwahati, check in at Hotel
  • Evening free for Shopping, Overnight at Guwahati Overnight at Tezpur (B,L,D)

Day 7: Guwahati – Hometown

  • After breakfast drive to airport to board the flight for onward destination and the tour concludes here. (B)
